Making boring stuff fun!
Recent studies show the workplace is headed in a participatory direction that will not accommodate traditional employees stuck in Industrial Age management structures. Will employees survive the next evolution? Maybe, but they’re going to have to change now. Leaders need to be aware of the signs of demotivated employees. This does not mean that their employees are lazy, it simply means they have to get motivated so the situation does not lead to a more widespread problem and loss of productivity.
This is what motivates Orchard to create digital solution that will engage employees. The business, based in Copenhagen, is a sister company to Qeep, a consultancy company working within Business Execution. Kristian Rix, the founder of Orchard MBC describes the aim of the company: “We make boring stuff fun and motivate the right behaviors in employees through implementing game elements and behavioral design. We find these through Anthropology, which helps us to understand what can motivate change in employees.” Orchard MBC researches employees with field trips to where they work in order to uncover the real barriers and drivers of motivation and uses those to create solutions. With the results of the field research Orchard MBC creates behavioral change programs that motivate employees in a gamified way so employees begin behaviors that drive better business outcomes.
